At WWDC 2011 iOS 5 is announced by APPLE. So, below some are extremely cool new features of iOS 5 are mentioned here. iOS 5 is available from this fall. SDK of iOS 5 is available for developers from today.
1. Notification Center :
It looks like iOS 5 has a major approach to notifications. Notification Center supports your various apps alerts and pop-ups for a decidedly Android-esque list that appears at the top of our screen when you get a Facebook message, or a tweet, or a miss call. Swiping down Screen brings you to the list, and swiping across any instance takes you to the corresponding app.
2. Twitter Integration :
Apple has just announced that it will bring deep Twitter integration to all of its iOS-based devices and many of its apps (Like Camera, Photos, Safari and Maps). The integration also extends to Contacts, where you'll be able to link your contacts to their Twitter handle and keep their information accordingly like Android. You will now only have to sign up into Twitter once into Settings and then simply share with any app that requests them.
3. PC Free :
If You hate all of the PC based tethering everytime, Apple has some good news for you. Apple is taking its "post-PC" stance a step higher, letting you activate your smartphone straight out of the box without syncing it to a computer. Big news is the addition of OTA (over the air) updates, which will let you receive changes without plugging the handset in and some major news for music fans that users will be able to sync their iTunes libraries over WiFi connections with the update.
4. New Camera Functions :
Apple has just announced iOS 5 enabled iPhones, iPads and iPods will be getting a camera shortcut on the lock screen. Also new to iOS that the ability to tap and hold to lock focus and exposure on a subject while capturing. Rounding out the list, Apple also added an optional grid to help frame photos and all new photo editor with a basic feature set that includes features like cropping, rotating, red eye reduction, auto enhance features, and the ability to create albums on the device.
5. iMessage :
Apple has just announced its new data based push messaging service at WWDC 2011 which looks to be a competitor to the venerable BBM (BlackBerry Messenger). iMessage works on any iOS device of any flavor, and lets you send text messages, photos, videos, and contacts to anyone else with iMessage. Also it supports group chats and integrates with the new Notification Center in iOS 5. It works over WiFi or 3G.
